Nikon Vibration Reduction System
SLR Advanced Nikon engineering has given rise to a compact lightweight lens design that offers outstanding optical performance and excellent handling characteristics. The new Nikon Vibration Reduction (VRII) system enables users to take substantially sharper handheld pictures at slower shutter speeds. With the new VRII system, users can take sharp pictures at shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower* than would otherwise be possible. For VR shooting, users can select two VR modes to match shooting conditions. Normal Mode primarily reduces camera shake in handheld shooting, detecting panning automatically. Active Mode can compensate for vibration when shooting from, for example, a moving vehicle.

selama kurang lebih 3 bulan menggunakan lensa super zoom ini, bisa saya uraikan beberapa kelebihan dan kekurangannya, sbb:

keunggulan:

• image yang dihasilkan sangat tajam untuk rentang 70-200mm.
• VRII yang sangat saya sukai dari lensa ini. sehingga tidak perlu lagi membawa-bawa tripod untuk shot jarak jauh
• lensa ini juga sangat ringan
• distorsi yang rendah
• zooming yang halus
• manual focus yang sangat mudah
• autofocus yang sangat cepat
• AF yang sangat akurat
• foto panning menjadi lebih mudah.VR membuat kamera mudah membaca pergerakan objek, dan mengabaikan statik background.

kekurangannya:

• lingkar diameter yang besar (juga fat zoom ring)
• kesan plastiknya terlalu kental, sepintas nampak kurang bergengsi
• kurang silent waktu zooming.
• terlalu mahal.
• kurang cocok untuk foto sport. vr sangat menghambat autofocus (harus VR mode off, kalau dipakai foto sport)
  tetapi pengalaman saya, justru untuk foto surfing, saya mendapat nilai extra memuaskan. untuk speed 1/500, buih ombak bisa menjadi sangan tak terduga.

secara keseluruhan, performance lensa ini jauh lebih hebat dari 70-300mm pendahulunya, yang pernah saya pinjam dari teman. walau harganya juga dasyat. 5 juta or something.

Jika uang tidak masalah bagi anda, banyak fotografer pro menyarankan untuk sekalian saja go to up-level lens Nikon 200-400mm VR.

bagi saya, untuk keperluan professional images, lensa ini kurang maksimal. tetapi kalau untuk keperluan travelling, lensa ini sangat saya favoritkan, dan juga didambakan banyak orang. super zoom, ringan, vr!

keputusannya, sangat tergantung pada keperluan zooming anda.
